A Night in Normandy – 38x30 cm

"A Night in Normandy" is an acrylic painting on canvas board, framed with a handmade papier-mâché frame. The irregular, sculpted frame is part of the piece itself, adding raw texture and presence.

This painting is inspired by something my grandparents told me in the 1990s. They lived in the countryside and had come to visit us in the city. Late that night, they drove back home. As they approached their house on a dark, empty road, they saw strange lights hovering over a field.

They kept driving, unable to figure out what it was. And that’s when it really caught their attention: the lights started following the car. My grandfather said, “It looked like headlights, except there was no car.” They never figured out what it could have been. My family laughed and said maybe they had too much to drink. Then the conversation ended. The subject was closed. And we never found out more.
